Metuchen High School Partners with Small Business Owner Yensi Rios

In June 2021, Metuchen High School students partnered with Panamanian entrepreneur Yensi Rios to expand her business in the community of Santa Librada, Daríen during their Global Business TeleSquad.

Ms. Rios is a small business owner who was interested in making a splash in her community with the establishment of a refreshment kiosk, and she wanted to learn more about financial and marketing strategies to help her grow. Students used SWOT Analysis and the Canvas Business Model to take a strategic look at Ms. Rios’ finances and design engaging assets for Ms. Rios business, Refresqueria Yesielys.

Each Squad type has a skill-based focus area that support the education, health and economic development objectives of community partners. Faculty choose their dates, duration (typically 1-2 weeks), and their site location from one of our six program countries.
