Belize

Experience the culture, make a difference and have the adventure of a lifetime in Belize. Immerse yourself in Belizean culture and make a difference in the lives of others by supporting communities and local schools through various projects. Live a unique experience by participating in various activities such as cooking traditional dishes, creating colorful artwork, and learning the Garifuna language. Our staff will meet you at the Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City, where we provide transportation to our “home-base” outside of Belmopan.

Community Partners and Projects

Your mornings will be filled with meaningful work at a local school, providing support, helping complete small construction projects, and hosting educational workshops and recreational activities for students. Accommodations and Food

In the home-base you’ll enjoy authentic local cuisine, connection with our year-round staff, and space to enjoy your downtime. Enjoy a beautiful view of a landscape full of green pastures. The warm weather warrants a swim in the pool that can be utilized during free time.

Common areas are furnished with plenty of chairs and couches. Living areas are communal with plenty of space to keep your belongings. During your stay, you’ll feast on a blend of healthy Belizian cuisine. Typical meals include plenty of chicken, beef, potatoes, egs and  “Fry jack’s”, while also having plenty of vegetables to balance out your plate.

Our Staff

Permanent team of local staff including medical professionals, paramedics, drivers, cooks, and lodging managers that design and are present throughout each program. The staff with more than 20 years of empowering Students will make you feel at home acting like a second family during your stay and helping you better understand the culture and maximize community impact.

Cultural Activites

Spend your afternoons experiencing Belizean culture through a variety of guided activities, such as cooking lessons for cassava pudding and darasa ‘tamales’, traditional and colorful ‘Cayetano’ inspired artwork, drum lessons, and Garifuna language and culture lessons.

Enrichment Opportunities

(OPTIONAL ADD-ON PACKAGES)

After a week of unforgettable service choose from various optional enrichment activity add-ons such as Lamanai Archeological Reserve one of the oldest continuously inhabited of the Maya world.

Enjoy a tubing or float down the Belize River and/or explore Actun Tunichil Muknal Caves and hike through the Tapir Nature Reserve on a guided trip that combines spelunking and exploring the jungle. And of course visit Belize world class beaches for a day or overnight to enjoy snorkeling and beach activities.

Teachers, join our movement!

Squads are passionate groups of volunteers who mobilize abroad to create positive change. Each Squad type has a skill-based focus area that support the education, health and economic development objectives of community partners. Faculty choose their dates, duration (typically 1-2 weeks), and their site location from one of our six program countries.
